The national capital is expected to remain mostly cloudy on Sunday, with chances of light rain in some areas. On Saturday, widespread showers brought the temperatures below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 25°C, about 1.5 degrees below average, while the maximum was recorded at 34.5°C, nearly 4 degrees below the seasonal norm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several districts of Uttarakhand over the next two days. An orange alert has been issued for Dehradun, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, while yellow alerts are in place for Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, and Uttarkashi. The IMD has cautioned that the state could witness continuous heavy downpours until August 20.
Himachal Pradesh Faces Disruptions
In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rain in the last 24 hours has severely disrupted daily life. A total of 374 roads, including National Highway-05 in Kinnaur and NH-305 in Kullu, have been blocked due to landslides and flooding. The weather office has indicated that relief from rainfall is unlikely before August 20. A yellow alert has been sounded for Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur districts on Sunday, with warnings of heavy rain for Kangra and Sirmaur on August 18.
