Farmers growing tomatoes have every reason to celebrate this week, as prices have seen a remarkable surge across major mandis of Madhya Pradesh. According to the Today Mandi Bhav report, between July 6 and July 12, 2025, tomato prices have jumped by 30% to 140% in several key markets.

The most notable spike was recorded in Sarangpur mandi, where prices soared from ₹1500 to ₹3600 per quintal the highest increase this season. In addition to Sarangpur, Manawar, Sagar, Dewas, and Khurai also witnessed a strong upward trend in tomato rates. The primary reason behind this surge is a disruption in supply due to monsoon rains and rising demand in local markets.

For farmers planning to sell their produce, this is an ideal opportunity. If you’re looking to know the latest mandi prices and understand which markets witnessed the biggest hikes, don’t miss the full mandi-wise comparison report below.

Where Did Tomato Prices Rise the Most?

Over the past week, tomato prices have sharply increased in many mandis across Madhya Pradesh. Sarangpur recorded the highest leap, with prices rising from ₹1500 to ₹3600 per quintal. Manawar, Sagar, and Dewas also saw price jumps ranging from ₹300 to ₹650.

This price rally indicates strong demand and a shortfall in supply, likely caused by heavy monsoon conditions affecting harvest and transportation.

However, not all mandis witnessed an upward trend. Pipariya saw a slight dip, with prices falling from ₹2100 to ₹2000 per quintal, while Sendhwa recorded only a marginal increase of ₹100. Khurai saw a ₹200 rise in desi tomato prices, moving from ₹1700 to ₹1900.

Overall, most mandis reported a favorable rise in prices, offering farmers improved returns. If rainfall continues and transport remains disrupted, prices may climb even higher in the coming days.

Advisory for Farmers

  • In mandis where prices are rising, rates may continue to increase over the next 3–5 days.
  • Farmers with high-quality tomatoes ready for market can target high-performing mandis like Sarangpur, Manawar, or Sagar.
  • In areas where prices are stable or dropping (like Pipariya), it may be beneficial to wait a few days and store the produce, if possible.
