If you are involved in tomato farming or trading, today’s report will be of great interest to you. On the last day of October, the tomato market across India witnessed both mild declines and moments of stability. With the weather turning cooler, crop arrivals have improved in several regions, resulting in a slight fall in prices. However, high-quality tomatoes are still fetching up to ₹1,500 per quintal, offering farmers reasonable profits and keeping the market balanced overall.

Across various states, tomato arrivals remained normal, but key markets in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra displayed interesting fluctuations. In some markets, increased arrivals led to a fall in prices, while in others, superior quality produce helped stabilize the rates. Let’s take a look at the detailed price updates from major markets and what trends are expected in the coming days.

Madhya Pradesh Markets:

  1. Badwani (Fruit & Vegetable Market), around 0.98 tonnes of tomatoes arrived today, with prices ranging from ₹700 to ₹800 per quintal. Most of the produce was of average quality, keeping the prices stable.
  2. Betul Market, a total of 6 tonnes of Desi variety tomatoes arrived. The prices here were between ₹800 and ₹1,100 per quintal. Traders mentioned that the newly arrived crop had better quality, which led to a slight increase in buyer demand.
  3. Meanwhile, in Sendhwa Market, only 0.5 tonnes of hybrid tomatoes arrived. These fetched higher prices — between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 per quintal — due to their superior quality, ensuring good profits for farmers.

Maharashtra Markets:

  1. Kalmeshwar Market, around 2.6 tonnes of tomatoes arrived, with prices ranging between ₹1,540 and ₹2,000 per quintal. This was among the highest price ranges recorded in the state today, giving local growers a profitable return.
  2. Patan Market, the arrival stood at 0.9 tonnes. Prices were recorded between ₹950 and ₹1,150 per quintal — a slight decline compared to last week, though overall trade activity remained stable.
  3. Pune (Khadki Market), about 1.6 tonnes of local tomatoes arrived, priced between ₹1,000 and ₹1,100 per quintal. The consistent retail demand helped maintain price stability.
  4. The Pune (Moshi Market) saw the largest arrival of the day — 40.8 tonnes of local tomatoes. Prices ranged from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per quintal. Despite the heavy inflow, rates remained stable, providing relief to consumers and decent returns to farmers.
  5. Pune (Pimpri Market), 1.2 tonnes of local tomatoes arrived. Prices ranged from ₹1,300 to ₹1,500 per quintal, as buyers continued to prefer high-quality produce.
  6. Rahata Market, the arrival was 3.6 tonnes, with prices between ₹450 and ₹1,000 per quintal. The abundance of low-quality tomatoes caused prices to weaken.
  7. Rahuri Market, around 0.7 tonnes arrived, with prices ranging from ₹500 to ₹1,000 per quintal. The market showed slight weakness amid moderate supply.

Finally, in Shrirampur Market, 3.1 tonnes of tomatoes were traded at ₹700 to ₹1,000 per quintal. Local traders predicted that prices might drop slightly in the coming week as new harvests start arriving.

Farmer Tips – Tomato (October 31, 2025):

  1. 1. Focus on Quality: High-quality, bright red tomatoes are fetching ₹200–₹300 more per quintal compared to average-quality produce.
  2. 2. Store Surplus Stock: Areas where current prices range between ₹700 and ₹900 per quintal, farmers can store tomatoes in cold storage to sell them at better prices in the coming week.
  3. 3. Sell Directly in Local Markets: Small farmers can increase their income by selling directly in local haats or weekly markets instead of relying solely on wholesale mandis.
  4. 4. Expect a Slight Price Drop: With new harvests expected in the next 10 days, the market supply will likely increase, leading to a potential decline of ₹100–₹150 per quintal in prices.
