Where Prices Rose, Where They Fell & Impact of Arrivals:

Today, the sharpest rise in tomato prices was seen in Goluwala (Rajasthan), where due to extremely low arrivals (0.22 tonnes), desi tomatoes sold up to ₹2,000 per quintal. Prices in Rawatsar and Bhadara also remained strong between ₹1,600–₹1,800 because of limited supply.

Contrast, tomato prices stayed quite low in Karera, Sabalgarh, Sanawad, and Dewas mandis of Madhya Pradesh. In Karera, the minimum price dropped to ₹200, while in Sabalgarh it fell to ₹300, mainly due to average quality and weak demand.

In terms of arrivals, Pipariya (5 tonnes) and Sanawad (4 tonnes) recorded comparatively higher arrivals, which kept prices under pressure. Meanwhile, Sendhwa and Petlawad witnessed limited arrivals of hybrid tomatoes, pushing prices up to ₹1,600–₹1,900 per quintal.

Suggestions for Farmers:

  • Farmers with good quality or hybrid tomatoes can get better prices by selling in selected mandis of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh such as Goluwala, Rawatsar, and Sendhwa.
  • In mandis where prices have dropped to ₹200–₹500, avoid immediate selling if possible and observe market movement for the next 2–3 days.
  • Prices may strengthen further in low-arrival mandis, so always check the supply situation before dispatching your produce.
