August 8, 2025 – In a surprising development, tomato prices have skyrocketed across several Indian mandis, particularly in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, where rates have crossed ₹5000 per quintal. This unexpected surge has taken both farmers and traders by surprise.
In major mandis such as Sarangpur, Jawra, and Sanawad, high-quality tomatoes were sold for more than ₹5000 per quintal. Similarly, in Pune and Kalmeshwar mandis of Maharashtra, prices remained in the ₹3000–₹5000 range. However, in some regions, poor-quality tomatoes fetched as low as ₹500 per quintal — clearly highlighting the critical role of quality in determining market prices.
If you have fresh, premium-quality tomatoes, now is the best time to sell, as selecting the right mandi could earn you rates between ₹4000–₹5000 per quintal.
