Strong Price Momentum Brings Back Farmer Confidence:

On July 6, 2025, many major mandis across Uttar Pradesh reported a firm rise in rice prices. The highest rate was recorded in Saharanpur at ₹3625/quintal, the top price in the state. Other mandis such as Mathura, Lucknow, Mainpuri, Bareilly, Robertsganj, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur also reported strong prices in the ₹3300–₹3475 range, which is a positive sign for farmers.

Compared to last week, rice prices have increased by 2% to 5%, indicating rising demand and consumption in the market. Especially in mandis like Lucknow and Mainpuri, sustained high prices show that buyers are active, and stock clearance is happening at a fast pace.

However, not all mandis have performed equally well. Mandis such as Gonda (₹2925–₹3000) and Fatehpur (₹3000–₹3180) recorded relatively low rates. The primary reason for this is believed to be higher local arrivals and weak demand in these specific markets.

Advisory for Farmers and Traders:

  • For Farmers: If you are in a district where prices are above ₹3300, selling your produce now could bring good profits. Farmers in regions where rates are still below ₹3100 should consider storing their stock or transporting it to better-performing mandis.
  • For Traders: The market is currently in a volatile phase, but with this upward trend, there is strong potential for further price hikes in the coming weeks. Strategic buying and holding may lead to higher margins.
