Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Promotion Scheme of the state government, kodo and kutki (millets) farmers have received major relief. To encourage greater farmer participation and ensure smooth procurement of produce, the deadline for kodo–kutki procurement has been extended from January 15 to January 31.
The scheme is being implemented through the Shri Anna Promotion Consortium of Farmer Producer Company Limited, Bhopal. Its primary objective is to promote the production of millets (Shri Anna), provide farmers with an assured market, and ensure income stability for growers.
The procurement process for kodo and kutki is currently underway in 18 districts across the state. A large number of farmers from the Jabalpur division, including Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla, Dindori, Chhindwara, Balaghat, and Seoni districts, are actively participating in the scheme.
So far, 13,512 farmers in the Jabalpur division have registered for selling their produce under the scheme. The total registered cultivation area stands at 13,644.71 hectares, reflecting the strong production base of kodo and kutki in the region.
The scheme, procurement has already been completed from 873 farmers, amounting to 782.25 metric tonnes of kodo and kutki. Continuous procurement has boosted farmer confidence, and growers are bringing their produce to procurement centres on time.
Special Instructions to Field Staff:
The Joint Director of Agriculture has instructed all field-level officers and staff to ensure that registered farmers in their respective gram panchayats are properly informed. If required, announcements through village messengers (Kotwars) are also to be made. Farmers have been urged to bring their kodo–kutki produce to designated procurement centres and complete weighing before January 31.
