Farmers and traders, if you’re wondering whether now is the right time to sell your potato stock, this update could be the opportunity you've been waiting for. This week, several mandis across Uttar Pradesh witnessed a significant rise in potato prices, bringing smiles back to the faces of farmers.

The spotlight was on Hasanpur mandi, where the ‘Badshah’ variety stole the show. Prices for this premium variety surged by as much as ₹500 per quintal — a huge gain for farmers who had stored high-quality potatoes. Clearly, those who invested in quality are now reaping real profits.

However, not all mandis showed the same momentum. For instance, prices dropped slightly in Rudauli. Still, overall market sentiment indicates a strong demand for quality potatoes, with the trend leaning in favor of farmers.

So what should you do if you still have unsold potatoes?

  • Which mandi is offering the best price right now?
  • Should you sell immediately or wait a few more days?

Find all the answers in this mandi-wise price comparison report — so you can make an informed decision and maximize your profits.

Which Mandi Saw the Sharpest Rise?

Between July 6 and July 12, potato prices in Uttar Pradesh’s mandis rose significantly. The sharpest increase was recorded in Hasanpur, where the 'Badshah' variety jumped from ₹950 to ₹1450 per quintal in just one week. Similar upward trends were seen in Khekra, Syana, and Gulawathi, with gains ranging from ₹100 to ₹200 per quintal — a clear win for local growers.

Not all markets followed this trend, however. Rudauli mandi witnessed a dip of ₹50, the only decline recorded this week. Meanwhile, places like Faizabad, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, and Gonda saw marginal increases between ₹10 and ₹25. Still, the overall atmosphere suggests that prices may continue to rise, especially if arrivals remain low and demand stays strong.

Advisory for Farmers and Traders:

  • Farmers in high-performing mandis should consider selling now to take advantage of the favorable rates.
  • Traders should pay close attention to the 'Badshah' variety, which is in high demand and commanding premium prices.
  • If this upward trend continues next week, maintaining a balanced supply in the market will be crucial to prevent any sudden price drops.
