The monsoon system currently active over Madhya Pradesh continues to bring intense rainfall across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, forecasting very heavy rainfall in multiple regions over the next four days and advising residents to remain vigilant.
At present, a low-pressure area has developed over West Bengal. Additionally, the monsoon trough is passing through Uttar Pradesh and extending into Madhya Pradesh. A cyclonic circulation (trough line) also persists in the upper atmosphere, stretching from South Rajasthan to West Bengal, crossing through Madhya Pradesh. Due to these combined systems, widespread and intense rainfall is being observed, particularly in eastern Madhya Pradesh, including the Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, and Jabalpur divisions.
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the districts of Sehore, Harda, Raisen, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Damoh, Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Dindori, and Umaria. Bhopal and Indore are expected to receive light to moderate rain. Intermittent downpours in the capital Bhopal have led to severe traffic congestion in several areas.
On Tuesday, districts including Anuppur, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Damoh, Dindori, Jabalpur weather, Katni, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Seoni, Shahdol, and Umaria may experience flood-like conditions due to persistent rainfall and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h. The IMD has advised people in these regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
