Onion Prices

Onion prices are once again in the spotlight today, and for good reason. A huge price gap has emerged across vegetable mandis in different states. In some markets, limited arrivals have pushed prices sharply higher, while in others, heavy supply has dragged rates down significantly. As a result, farmers are unsure whether to sell immediately or wait, while traders are actively searching for the right market at the right price. Today’s mandi update is therefore crucial for decision-making.

Looking at current market conditions, select mandis in Bihar recorded onion prices as high as ₹3,200 per quintal, driven by good quality produce and very low arrivals. On the other hand, in parts of Rajasthan, the minimum price of onion slipped to just ₹410 per quintal, clearly indicating excess supply and mixed quality. Major Delhi mandis also witnessed heavy arrivals, leading to frequent price fluctuations throughout the day.

This report provides a detailed state-wise and mandi-wise onion price list, along with clear analysis explaining where prices are strong and where farmers need to be cautious. If you want to make the right marketing decision at the right time, read the full report carefully—because one smart decision today can mean better profits tomorrow.

Price and Arrival Trend Analysis:

The strongest price surge was recorded in Barhat mandi of Bihar, where very low arrivals of just 4 tonnes pushed onion prices to ₹2,800–₹3,200 per quintal.

Contrast, Azadpur mandi in Delhi, which received a massive 988 tonnes, saw prices fall to a minimum of ₹500 per quintal, although good-quality lots still fetched up to ₹2,125.

Rajasthan, Bhilwara recorded a higher price ceiling of ₹2,500, while Pratapgarh saw prices crash to ₹410 due to heavy supply and mixed quality. Markets such as Hanumangarh Town and Jaipur remained under pressure because of large arrivals, whereas Goluwala, Bhadra, and Sangaria, with limited supply, maintained relatively stronger prices.

Overall, the trend was clear: low arrivals supported higher prices, while heavy supply restricted market gains.

Advisory for Farmers

  1. Farmers with good-quality onions can explore better returns in select mandis of Bihar and Rajasthan.
  2. In high-arrival mandis such as Azadpur and Jaipur, immediate selling may not be ideal if storage facilities are available.
  3. Keep tracking low-arrival mandis with rising prices, as further improvement is possible in the coming days.
  4. Proper grading and sorting before sale can add an extra ₹300–₹700 per quintal to farmer returns.
