Today, onion markets across India witnessed mild fluctuations, but some regions brought relief to farmers with improved prices. While old stock onions saw slightly weaker demand, fresh and high-quality onions fetched better prices in several mandis.
At present, buyers are mostly preferring clean, shiny, and large-sized onions. Experts say demand remains steady for now, but if arrivals drop in the coming days, onion prices may rise further.
Currently, Maharashtra’s mandis are proving to be the most profitable for farmers, with premium-grade onions selling between ₹1,500 and ₹1,600 per quintal.
Overall, today’s mandi trends remained “mixed but promising.” While some mandis reported stable prices, others saw sharp gains showing that farmers are gradually getting better returns. In the coming weeks, weather conditions and arrivals will play a major role in determining how much higher the latest mandi prices can go.

Farmer Advisory (Onion 04 November, 2025):
- Focus on quality: Premium-grade onions are currently selling at ₹1,500–₹1,600 per quintal. Farmers should ensure proper cleaning and grading to earn top prices.
- Benefit from low arrivals: Mandis with lower arrivals like Sanwer and Sanawad are offering better rates. Farmers in these areas can take advantage of local demand.
- Plan for storage: Onion prices are likely to rise further in the next two weeks, so storing produce safely could yield better returns later.
- Track mandi prices daily: Maharashtra mandis are currently offering the highest rates. Farmers nearby should consider this while deciding when and where to sell.
