Farmers, if you are preparing to sell your onion crop, today’s market report is extremely important for you. Several major mandis across Madhya Pradesh witnessed a steep fall in onion prices. Due to heavy arrivals and weak demand, onion rates hit the lowest level of the season, with many mandis reporting prices as low as ₹100–150 per quintal equivalent to just ₹1–1.50 per kg.
Although a few markets showed mild recovery, the overall trend remained bearish. Buyers pushed prices down sharply, resulting in a difficult market situation for farmers.

- Heavy arrivals directly pushed prices downward in most mandis.
- Markets with lower arrivals (like Morena and Bhopal) maintained relatively better rates.
Important Advice for Farmers
- Hold stock in severely low-price mandis: Ujjain, Sarangpur, and Ratlam, where prices collapsed, farmers should avoid selling immediately. Rates may recover in the coming weeks.
- Farmers with good-quality or red onions can sell now: Markets like Shujalpur and Khandwa are still offering profitable prices.
- Protect onion quality: Onions stored in open spaces lose quality quickly. Proper grading, sorting, and packing can help secure better prices.
- Avoid flooding the market in high-arrival regions: Areas with heavy arrivals, farmers should release their stock gradually to reduce market pressure and prevent further price drops.
