Price and Arrival Trend Analysis:

Onion prices remained strongest in Bihar mandis today. At Barahat APMC, medium-quality onions rose from ₹2,800 to ₹3,200 per quintal, while Sheohar recorded prices up to ₹3,000. Limited arrivals of 2–4 tonnes played a major role in supporting these higher rates.

Haryana, mandis with very low arrivals also witnessed sharp prices. At Chhachhrauli, onions sold up to ₹2,600 per quintal with arrivals of just 0.25 tonnes. Markets like Ganaur and Ladwa touched ₹2,500 per quintal.

In contrast, mandis with heavy arrivals, such as Gurugram (98 tonnes) and Hansi (36.2 tonnes), saw prices restricted between ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 per quintal. This clearly confirms that lower supply leads to higher prices, while increased arrivals put pressure on rates.

Advisory for Farmers

  1. Farmers holding good-quality onions can consider selling in low-arrival mandis of Bihar and Haryana to secure better prices.
  2. Avoid immediate selling in high-arrival markets like Gurugram and Hansi if storage facilities are available.
  3. With the possibility of arrivals declining in the coming days, onion prices may strengthen further, so plan sales carefully.
