The monsoon has now completely withdrawn from northern India, while southern states are once again witnessing an active spell of rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is likely between October 16 and 20 in the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Meanwhile, the onset of mild winter has been felt across North India, bringing a noticeable drop in morning and evening temperatures.

Delhi-NCR: Rising Chill, Toxic Air Quality:

With the changing weather, air pollution levels in the national capital and nearby regions have worsened significantly. As per the latest data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Noida recorded the highest pollution level in the country on Wednesday evening, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 318. Greater Noida followed with an AQI of 263, Ghaziabad stood at 254, Gurugram at 251, and Delhi recorded 233. Experts warn that pollution levels may continue to deteriorate in the coming days as winter sets in.

Weather conditions across Uttar Pradesh are expected to remain mostly stable. The sky is likely to stay clear today, with maximum temperatures between 32°C and 34°C and minimum temperatures ranging from 18°C to 20°C. Western parts of the state may experience mild daytime heat, while the eastern regions are likely to feel cooler nights. Light mist or fog may appear in some areas during early morning hours. The IMD predicts a slight drop in minimum temperatures after October 16, enhancing the winter chill.

Madhya Pradesh: Cold Nights with Chances of Light Rain:

Madhya Pradesh, temperatures have started dipping as the weather takes a cooler turn. Cities like Bhopal, Indore, and Sagar are witnessing chilly nights, with mercury levels falling below 17°C. Meanwhile, southern districts — including Betul, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Harda, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat — are likely to experience cloudy skies and light showers. IMD officials said that even though the monsoon has withdrawn from the state, isolated rainfall and thunderstorm activity may continue for the next few days.
