The southwest monsoon has once again picked up pace across Madhya Pradesh, bringing relief from the recent spell of humidity. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected in many parts of the state today, with some districts likely to receive heavy downpours.
The IMD has cautioned residents in Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Harda to be prepared for widespread rain. In particular, Raisen, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Harda are at risk of intense rainfall along with strong winds, which could result in localized flooding and temporary disruption of road transport. People in low-lying areas have been advised to remain vigilant.
Western districts like Indore and northern parts including Gwalior may also witness spells of rain, although more scattered in nature. Vidisha and Bhopal are expected to remain under cloudy skies for most of the day, with intermittent showers creating cooler conditions.
In the last 24 hours, Mandla received the highest rainfall at 24.8 mm, followed by Khajuraho with 11.4 mm, Pachmarhi 7.2 mm, and Rewa 6 mm. Other districts reported moderate to light showers, including Raisen (5.6 mm), Damoh (5 mm), Satna (4.4 mm), Narsinghpur (3 mm), and Datia (2.5 mm).
