Dear Farmers and Traders, If you are involved in onion farming or trading, today's update is extremely important for you. On July 4, 2025, onion prices crashed sharply in several major mandis of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In some mandis, rates have fallen by more than half — a major setback for farmers.

Compared to June 28, prices in many mandis have dropped by ₹400 to ₹600 per quintal. The fall has been particularly steep in Narsinghgarh and Jaora. Although some Rajasthan mandis witnessed milder declines, the overall market trend remains downward — raising concerns for the weeks ahead.

Big Questions Farmers Are Asking:

  • What are the latest mandi prices for onions in your area?
  • Is it wise to sell now, or should you wait for a better price?
  • What do these price drops indicate for traders and stockists?

In today’s mandi price report, we bring you mandi-wise comparative analysis to help you make the right decision at the right time. Even in a falling market, understanding the price trends can help you turn losses into profits.

Why Are Onion Prices Falling in Madhya Pradesh?

Several major mandis in Madhya Pradesh saw a steep price crash between ₹400 to ₹600 per quintal:

  • Narsinghgarh Mandi: Prices dropped from ₹905 to ₹300, a massive ₹605 drop — the largest in the state and a serious concern for farmers.
  • Jaora Mandi: Rates fell from ₹850 to ₹400, marking a ₹450 loss per quintal.
  • Badnawar and Sarangpur: Declines between ₹100 and ₹200 were seen, which are considered sharp for local markets with limited buyer activity.
  • Shajapur and Kalapipal Mandis: The decline was limited to ₹45–₹69, but these are key distribution hubs. Even slight drops here suggest ongoing instability in the onion market.

Rajasthan: Mild Decline, But Caution Remains:

Rajasthan, the price decline was less severe, ranging between ₹25 and ₹100:

  • Jodhpur Mandi: Prices fell from ₹900 to ₹800.
  • Sikar Mandi: Dropped from ₹900 to ₹875.

This marks the third consecutive week of decline, although less intense than in Madhya Pradesh. The main reason appears to be heavy arrivals in MP and sluggish wholesale demand.

Advice for Farmers and Traders:

  • Target smaller mandis with limited arrivals and buyer competition — where better prices may be available.
  • Avoid immediate selling if you have good storage options. Prices may stabilize in the coming weeks.
  • Traders should stock carefully, only as per demand. Overstocking during a falling market could increase losses.
