Where Prices Surged the Most:

Between July 8 and 14, mango prices rose significantly in many mandis across Uttar Pradesh. The sharpest increase was seen in Gonda mandi, where the Dasheri variety jumped from ₹2600 to ₹3550 per quintal — giving farmers ₹950 more per quintal, a 36% gain.

Orai and Hargaon also saw notable increases. In Orai, Dasheri mangoes went up from ₹2450 to ₹2800, while in Hargaon, prices rose from ₹1500 to ₹1900 per quintal. The main reason behind these price hikes was strong market demand coupled with better fruit quality.

In contrast, mandis like Shamli, Raebareli, and Khaga recorded minor gains of ₹90–₹100, indicating a balanced supply-demand scenario. Magalganj mandi, however, saw prices drop from ₹1625 to ₹1450 — a fall of ₹175 (10%), likely due to oversupply or subpar fruit quality.

Overall, mandis offered excellent prices for high-quality mangoes, and farmers in key regions were able to reap the rewards of their hard work.

Advice for Farmers

  • Gonda, Orai, and Hargaon mandis are currently offering highly favorable prices — farmers in these regions may find this a good time to sell for profit.
  • Magalganj, where prices have dipped, farmers should focus on quality sorting and grading to aim for better rates in the coming week.
  • Rainfall patterns and market arrivals in the next few weeks may continue to affect pricing trends. Keeping track of daily mandi reports will be crucial for informed selling.
