Where Did Jowar Cross Double the MSP? And Where Did It Lag Behind?

  • Pune mandi recorded the highest price at ₹6000/quintal, which is about ₹2600 more than the MSP of ₹3371.
  • Mumbai, Karmala, and Paranda also reported strong rates ranging between ₹2300 and ₹5700, showing how urban demand and quality produce can push prices upward.
  • On the other hand, mandis like Buldhana, Karanja, and Chandur Bazar still recorded minimum prices well below the MSP — between ₹1500 and ₹2400 per quintal.

Advice for Farmers and Traders:

  • For farmers with clean, bold, and good-quality jowar: Sending your produce to mandis like Pune, Mumbai, or Karmala could help you earn premium prices.
  • In low-rate mandis: If your produce is of high quality, there’s still a good chance of fetching a better price. Focus on proper cleaning, grading, and sorting before sending it to market.
  • For traders: This is the right time to stockpile high-quality jowar. With rising urban demand and export potential, prices are likely to rise even further in the coming days.
