At the annual conference of the Madhyabharat Consortium, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Rajendra Shukla emphasized that agriculture and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will play a decisive role in making India the world’s largest economy. He stated that holistic agricultural development is not possible without organizing farmers, and for this reason, the state is consistently working to strengthen FPOs.
Mr. Shukla was addressing the annual conference and state-level workshop of the Madhyabharat Consortium of Farmers Producer Company Limited, held at the State Institute of Agricultural Extension and Training in Bhopal. The event saw participation from FPO representatives across 48 districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that various initiatives launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for the welfare of farmers have given a new direction to the state’s agricultural economy. The proposed 10,000 new FPO projects will play a vital role in developing agriculture as a profitable business. So far, over 7,000 youth and women have gained employment through these FPOs, and the numbers are expected to rise in the coming years. The state government remains committed to increasing farmers’ income and ensuring them better market access.
During the event, outstanding FPOs and farmers were felicitated. As part of the program, 500 farmers received ₹1,000 each, transferred directly into their bank accounts, as dividends from sustainable and responsible farming practices. In the next phase, 1,000 more farmers will be provided with incentive payments.
Boost in Employment and Business Growth
Madhyabharat Consortium CEO Mr. Yogesh Dwivedi informed that the organization’s annual turnover has exceeded ₹250 crore, with a target of crossing ₹500 crore in the next three years. This initiative has already created employment for more than 7,000 youth and women.
