According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds is expected in parts of East and Central India from April 30 to May 2. On April 29, hailstorms are likely in some states. Meanwhile, northern, northeastern, and southern parts of the country may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain. Western Rajasthan is also under a heatwave warning.
IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall over East India, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh between April 30 and May 2. Thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, occasionally reaching 60 kmph, are also expected during this period.
On April 29, hailstorms may occur in parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Additionally, heavy rain is likely in some areas of Odisha on April 30 and May 1, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Dust storms are expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh on April 30. Thunderstorms with gusty winds (up to 50 kmph) are also likely in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, and North Interior Karnataka.
Thunderstorms in Multiple States: The IMD report says that areas including Haryana, Delhi, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Rayalaseema, and South Interior Karnataka may witness light rain with winds around 30–40 kmph.
Lightning Warning in Northeast and South India: Lightning and thunderstorms are likely in Arunachal Pradesh and coastal Karnataka today. Heavy rain may also occur in some parts of Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya.
Hot and Humid Weather in Southern Coastal Areas: Regions such as Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema will experience hot and humid weather. People may feel sweaty, sticky, and tired due to the moisture in the air.
Heatwave Alert in Western India: A heatwave warning has been issued for several parts of western Rajasthan, especially Bikaner and Jaisalmer districts. Heatwave conditions are also expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, and parts of Saurashtra and Kutch. People are advised to avoid going out during peak afternoon hours and to stay hydrated.
