Northwest India is once again bracing for a significant weather shift. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), between June 13 and June 19, 2025, multiple states including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and dust storms. The department has advised residents, especially farmers and rural populations, to stay alert and closely monitor local forecasts to take timely precautions.

A yellow to orange alert has been issued for several regions including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, indicating unstable conditions and a potential risk to crops and outdoor activities.

 Where Will It Rain?

  • Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall from June 13 to 19.

  • Western UP may see intermittent rain in the same period, while Eastern UP could experience thunderstorms with strong winds and showers from June 14 to 19.

  • Rajasthan is expected to get its first spell of monsoon-like rain on June 18 and 19, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds.

 Heavy Rainfall Alerts

  • Uttarakhand may experience isolated heavy rainfall between June 13 and 19, particularly in hilly regions.

  • Eastern UP is under warning for heavy rainfall between June 17 and 19, while Western UP may receive intense showers around June 19.

  • Thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds could accompany these rains, increasing risk to both people and crops.

 Dust Storms in Rajasthan

  • Between June 13 and 17, several parts of Rajasthan could experience intense dust storms or thunder gusts.

  • Wind speeds may reach 50–60 km/h, with gusts going up to 70 km/h, potentially disrupting travel and power lines.

 Advisory for Farmers and Citizens

  • Farmers should take precautions to safeguard standing crops, especially in rain and wind-prone areas.

  • Avoid open fields or tall structures during lightning activity to reduce risk of strikes.

  • In Rajasthan, avoid unnecessary travel during dust storms and drive cautiously if travel is essential.

  • Ensure all electric equipment and loose structures around homes or farms are secured.

This period could prove challenging for agriculture and daily life, so staying updated through local weather apps and IMD bulletins is strongly advised. If you are a farmer or planning outdoor activities in affected states, plan accordingly and stay safe.
