IMD Weather Update: Rain, Snowfall and Cold Wave to Affect North & West India

Weather conditions across North and Western India are set to change once again. As per the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, several states may witness light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next two days. Meanwhile, the hill states remain on alert for heavy rain and snowfall. Delhi-NCR may continue to see cloudy skies and dense fog, with colder conditions likely in some areas.

Rajasthan to Get Light Rain on Jan 31–Feb 1:

IMD has predicted light rainfall in parts of Rajasthan on 31 January and 1 February. Thunderstorms and lightning may also occur during this period, so people are advised to stay cautious, especially in open areas.

Heavy Snowfall Alert in Himalayan Regions:

A warning has been issued for heavy rainfall or heavy snowfall in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on 1 February. Travellers in hilly regions are advised to follow local updates and avoid unnecessary travel, as weather conditions may affect road movement.

Gujarat: Temperature to Rise First, Then Drop:

According to IMD, Gujarat may see a rise of 3 to 5°C in minimum temperatures over the next two days. However, temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 3°C during the following four days. After that, no major change is expected.

Delhi Today: Clouds & Dense Fog, Yellow Alert:

Delhi is expected to remain cloudy today, though there is no strong chance of rainfall. Morning hours may bring moderate to dense fog, and IMD has issued a Yellow Alert due to reduced visibility. The city’s minimum temperature may also drop by around 4 to 5°C.

Delhi Forecast: Fog on Jan 30, Light Rain on Jan 31:

IMD has said cloudy conditions may continue in Delhi on 30 January along with fog during the morning, which could impact visibility and traffic movement. On 31 January, the capital may receive light rainfall, with chances of thunder and lightning as well.

Cold Wave Likely in North India Till Jan 31: Cold wave conditions may prevail in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab weather, Haryana and Chandigarh between 29 and 31 January. People are advised to stay warm, take extra care during early mornings and evenings, and avoid exposure to extreme cold, especially for children and senior citizens.
