In the past 24 hours, many states across the country witnessed widespread rainfall. While heavy downpours disrupted daily life in some areas, moderate to heavy rains brought both relief and challenges elsewhere. At the same time, the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon has gained momentum, marking the end of the rainy season in parts of northern and western India. According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), more states will see the retreat of the monsoon in the coming days.
On 24th September 2025, the southwest monsoon completely withdrew from the remaining parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. It has also started retreating from some areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan, as well as from parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
As per IMD, the monsoon withdrawal line currently passes through:
37.5°N/73°E, Rampur Bushahr, Haridwar, Moradabad, Etawah, Banswara, Valabh, Vidyanagar, Veraval, and 20.5°N/69°E.
This indicates that large parts of the country are now moving into dry weather conditions, signaling the formal end of the rainy season in these regions.
IMD has predicted that in the next 2–3 days, the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon will advance further. The rainy season is expected to end across more regions, including the remaining parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Additionally, more areas of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will see the retreat of monsoon conditions.
