Weather activity is intensifying across several parts of the country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bihar and Chhattisgarh are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations on October 3 and 4. Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and the Gangetic region of West Bengal are also expected to see light to moderate rain, with some areas receiving heavy showers.
Extremely Heavy Rainfall Warning:
Certain areas in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh may witness very heavy rainfall on October 3. Meanwhile, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim face the risk of extreme rainfall between October 3 and 5, prompting authorities to advise vigilance.
The capital city is also witnessing changing weather conditions. On Friday, Delhi is expected to have a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum of 24°C, with partly cloudy skies throughout the day. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 123 at 4 PM, categorizing it as ‘moderate’.
Parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Gangetic West Bengal may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h. Meteorologists have urged residents, especially farmers, to exercise caution and avoid low-lying areas or riverbanks during this period.
The IMD has advised the public to closely follow weather updates over the next three to five days and take necessary safety measures. Bihar and Chhattisgarh, in particular, could face flooding and waterlogging due to heavy rainfall, making it crucial for people to remain alert.
