Bihar continues to reel under intense heat, with daytime temperatures consistently crossing the 40°C mark over the past few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave across several districts. There seems to be no immediate relief in sight until rainfall occurs.
According to the IMD, a change in weather is expected in parts of Bihar. Cities including Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Sheohar, and Samastipur are likely to experience normal weather today. However, light rainfall is expected at one or two places between June 10 and 14. Districts such as Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, and Jehanabad may also receive isolated rainfall between June 11 and 14.
Delhi and NCR are bracing for extreme heat, with hot day alerts issued for three consecutive days starting June 9. The region is currently experiencing blistering sunshine and high humidity levels, leaving residents uncomfortable both during the day and at night. Many people are avoiding stepping outdoors unless necessary.
Partly cloudy skies are expected, but no significant relief is anticipated for the next few days. Maximum temperatures may reach 42–43°C, while minimum temperatures could stay between 26–28°C. According to the IMD, light rain and thunderstorms may return by June 14, offering some respite.
In the last 24 hours, scattered rainfall was recorded in parts of Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, and Ujjain divisions. However, the rest of the state remained mostly dry. A notable rise in maximum temperatures by 2.2°C to 2.5°C was observed in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Sagar divisions.
Districts in Indore, Jabalpur, and Shahdol divisions recorded temperatures 1.7°C to 2.0°C above normal, while other divisions remained near average. The highest temperature of the day, 42.2°C, was recorded in Guna and Khajuraho (Chhatarpur), while the lowest minimum temperature, 20.9°C, was recorded in Amarkantak (Anuppur).
