The Haryana government has announced significant relief for farmers affected by excessive rainfall and floods during the kharif season. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the release of ₹116.15 crore as compensation for farmers who suffered crop losses in August and September. This assistance will directly benefit 53,821 farmers. The disbursement process has already begun, and the full amount is expected to be credited to farmers’ bank accounts within the next week. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that farmers suffered severe losses due to floods and heavy rainfall, prompting the government to take swift action to provide relief. The fund transfer process has been initiated with immediate effect so that farmers can reinvest in agriculture and strengthen their financial condition.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister stated that the total compensation package includes ₹35.29 crore for bajra, ₹27.43 crore for cotton, ₹22.91 crore for paddy, and ₹14.10 crore for guar. This assistance is being provided to farmers whose crops were severely damaged due to natural calamities.
Several districts witnessed continuous heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions during August and September. The Chief Minister personally visited the affected areas to assess the situation. Subsequently, the government kept the e-compensation portal open until September 15, inviting farmers to register details of crop damage.
More than 5.29 lakh farmers registered around 31 lakh acres of agricultural land on the portal. After verification, crop damage was confirmed on 1,20,380 acres belonging to 53,821 farmers, for whom compensation has now been released.
According to the Chief Minister, the highest crop losses were reported in Charkhi Dadri, where ₹23.55 crore has been released. Hisar received ₹17.82 crore, while Bhiwani was allotted ₹12.15 crore. Additionally, ₹4.72 crore has already been disbursed for losses related to livestock, damaged houses, and other essential assets.
The Chief Minister informed that six patwaris have been suspended for negligence during the crop damage verification process. He emphasized that the government is committed to accountability and will not tolerate lapses at any level.
Big Relief for Bajra Farmers Under Bhavantar Scheme:
The Chief Minister also announced major relief for bajra farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, aimed at ensuring fair prices. Bajra procurement for the kharif 2025–26 season began on September 23, and farmers are being provided price compensation of ₹575 per quintal. On this occasion, ₹358.62 crore was released for 1.57 lakh farmers.
So far this season, 6.23 lakh metric tonnes of bajra have been procured—the highest-ever in the state. The government had already released ₹927 crore under the scheme, and with the latest tranche, the total amount has reached ₹1,285.62 crore.
