Farmers and traders, if you cultivate or trade garlic, today’s report is especially important for you. Across major spice markets in the country, garlic prices showed sharp fluctuations. In some states, strong demand pushed prices upward, while in others, ordinary-quality garlic caused prices to dip.
Punjab and Haryana, garlic prices soared up to ₹13,000 per quintal marking the highest rate recorded nationwide today. Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, prices remained moderate on average, but premium-quality garlic attracted strong buyer interest.
Garlic Prices in Haryana Markets:
- Barwala (Hisar) market, about 0.2 tonnes of garlic arrived, with average-quality garlic priced between ₹8,000 and ₹10,000 per quintal.
- Ganaur market, 1.5 tonnes of garlic arrived, and prices ranged between ₹6,000 and ₹9,000 per quintal.
- Hansi market, 0.4 tonnes of other varieties of garlic were traded, priced between ₹6,000 and ₹8,000 per quintal.
- Indri market, 4.1 tonnes of garlic arrived, showing a wide price range from ₹2,000 to ₹6,000 per quintal.
- Shahabad market, 0.54 tonnes of garlic arrived, and premium-quality garlic touched ₹10,000 per quintal.
- Thanesar market, garlic prices ranged between ₹6,000 and ₹8,000 per quintal.
Garlic Price in Madhya Pradesh:
- Dewas (Fruit & Vegetable Market), a limited arrival of 0.2 tonnes of garlic was recorded, with prices ranging between ₹1,400 and ₹3,800 per quintal.
- Jaora market, the highest arrival in the state was recorded at 11.83 tonnes of garlic, with prices between ₹2,500 and ₹4,000 per quintal.
- Pipariya market, 0.2 tonnes of garlic arrived, and premium-quality garlic fetched between ₹5,000 and ₹7,200 per quintal.
Overall, garlic prices in Madhya Pradesh remained stable, though top-grade garlic drew competitive bids from buyers.
Garlic Prices in Punjab Market:
- Banur market, a limited arrival of 0.06 tonnes of garlic was reported, with prices ranging between ₹3,300 and ₹6,670 per quintal.
- Bhawanigarh market, 0.4 tonnes of garlic arrived, where premium-quality garlic sold between ₹9,000 and ₹10,000 per quintal.
- Bilga market, 0.9 tonnes of average-quality garlic were sold between ₹7,800 and ₹8,000 per quintal.
- Mansa market, 0.5 tonnes of garlic arrived, with a wide price variation from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 per quintal.
- Nawanshahr (Vegetable Market), a limited arrival of 0.1 tonnes of garlic was recorded, with prices between ₹7,000 and ₹7,500 per quintal.
- Patiala market, 2.2 tonnes of garlic arrived, with prices ranging between ₹3,000 and ₹5,000 per quintal.
- Patti market, 1 tonne of garlic arrived, with prices between ₹4,000 and ₹5,000 per quintal.
- Qadian market, 0.1 tonnes of garlic were sold between ₹6,800 and ₹7,000 per quintal.
- Tanda Urmar market, garlic prices reached ₹11,000 to ₹13,000 per quintal the highest price recorded in India today.
Farmer Advisory:
- For premium-quality garlic (large, shiny bulbs) Farmers should consider selling in Tanda Urmar or Bhawanigarh markets, where prices are ranging between ₹10,000 and ₹13,000 per quintal.
- Haryana farmers should focus on improving the grading and packaging of their garlic to achieve higher returns.
- In Madhya Pradesh, where average-quality garlic is fetching lower rates, farmers can consider storage or drying techniques and wait for prices to stabilize.
- With the upcoming festive season, spice demand is expected to rise, so farmers should prepare their produce with proper cleaning and quality control to secure better profits.
