The intense summer heat continues to scorch Delhi and surrounding NCR regions. With no signs of rainfall in sight, areas like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad remain under the grip of extreme heat and ongoing heatwave conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for the next two days across Delhi-NCR.
On Monday, Delhi recorded a scorching heat index of around 48.9°C, while the actual maximum temperature reached 43.4°C, which is 3.4 degrees above the normal. The minimum temperature was 27.6°C, and humidity levels fluctuated between 25% and 48%, making the weather feel even more oppressive.
Dusty Winds May Prevail, but No Major Relief Expected: According to the IMD forecast, dust-laden winds at speeds of 20 to 30 km/h are likely to blow across the region over the next two days. However, these winds are unlikely to bring significant relief from the intense heat.
The impact of the heatwave is not limited to daytime hours. Nights are remaining unusually warm, with minimal temperature drop after sunset. This has increased the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for the elderly, children, and those with existing health conditions.
Heatwave Conditions across Delhi, Haryana, and Nearby Areas: Heatwave conditions persist across Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Cities like Hisar, Sirsa, Rohtak, and Delhi’s Aya Nagar have all recorded temperatures close to 45°C. Monday marked the second consecutive day of severe heatwave in the region, significantly impacting daily life and health.
