Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that moong procurement in the state’s agricultural markets will be carried out through a transparent system to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce. He added that the state government will encourage traders from outside Madhya Pradesh to participate in the moong procurement process and will provide them with the necessary support and facilities.
Dr. Yadav made these remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with a delegation from the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Madhya Pradesh, at the Samatva Bhavan, his official residence. He emphasized the need to activate more traders in the mandis (markets) and encourage competitive bidding to help farmers get better prices for moong.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is considering whether relief in mandi (market) fees on moong can be provided. Additionally, institutions such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and companies like ITC will be encouraged to take part in the moong auction process. The government's goal is to increase the model rate of moong in mandis to approximately ₹7,500 per quintal. He further added that new mandi licenses will be issued to outside traders to increase competition in the procurement process.
Reiterating the government's commitment to farmers, Dr. Yadav said that agriculture remains a top priority for the state. He mentioned that all efforts are being made to promote agro-based industries across Madhya Pradesh. The government is also actively encouraging cotton cultivation in the state.
In a significant move to support animal welfare, the daily financial assistance provided to gaushalas (cow shelters) has been increased from ₹20 to ₹40 per cow. The Chief Minister also advised farmers to adopt crop rotation practices to enhance agricultural productivity.
