The Central and State Governments are working continuously to enhance farmers’ income. Officials emphasized that adopting innovations such as natural farming, organic practices, and crop diversification is the key to sustainable income growth for farmers.

Agriculture: The Backbone of the Economy:

Highlighting the significance of farming, Shri Parihar described agriculture as the foundation of livelihoods and the backbone of the Indian economy. He noted that the government is ensuring every essential facility for farmers—from electricity and water to quality seeds, fertilizers, and assured procurement. Strict action is being taken against adulteration and black marketing to safeguard the quality of inputs.

Satna Sets Record in Rice and Wheat Production:

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Shri Ashish Pandey, informed that farming in Satna district covers 4.71 lakh hectares across Kharif and Rabi seasons. Rice and wheat are the major crops. In 2024, the district recorded an average rice yield of 43.65 quintals per hectare, significantly higher than both state and national averages. Modern equipment such as Happy Seeder and Super Seeder have been provided to farmers, and over 1.3 lakh farmers have benefited from the Crop Insurance Scheme.

Focus on Dairy and Horticulture:

Shri Parihar further stated that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state is encouraging dairy production. The Horticulture Department has also been directed to prioritize spice cultivation and nursery development.

Irrigation and Power Strengthen Agriculture:

According to the Water Resources Department, two medium and 57 minor irrigation projects in the district have been completed, while five major projects are under construction. These projects will irrigate around 8,650 hectares of farmland. The Energy Department has ensured 10 hours of daily power supply for irrigation through 53 feeders, while solar energy initiatives and the Kusum Yojana are being actively promoted.

Plantation and Environmental Conservation:

As per the Forest Department, over the last three years, 1.92 lakh saplings have been planted on farmers’ private land, supported by a grant of more than ₹93 lakh. In the current year, an additional 17 lakh saplings have been planted, further strengthening the district’s commitment to environmental conservation.
