Great news for farmers in Bihar! Under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, the state government has launched a new scheme for the year 2025–26 to promote mango and litchi cultivation. The primary aim is to increase farmers' income and encourage high-quality fruit farming in the region.
Farmers from these districts can avail grants to adopt improved litchi farming practices.
Farmers can avail the benefits of this scheme for a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 hectare) and a maximum of 5 acres (2 hectares) of land. This ensures participation from both small and large-scale farmers.
Under this scheme, farmers are not allowed to purchase saplings from random sources. Instead, plants must be obtained only from:
This ensures farmers receive high-quality planting material, improving chances of better yield and profitability.
Subsidy Structure – Assistance for Two Years:
The government will provide financial support per hectare for two years:
This means a farmer can receive up to ₹80,000 per hectare as total support for mango or litchi cultivation.
Who Can Avail This Scheme?
Only land-owning (raiyat) farmers are eligible. If the land ownership is not clearly documented, farmers must provide genealogy records, revenue receipts, or an ownership certificate. This ensures that only genuine and eligible farmers receive the benefits.
Bank Account & DBT Requirement: Farmers must ensure their bank account is linked to DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) before applying. The subsidy amount will be directly transferred via the CFMS system, either through DBT in Cash or DBT in Kind, depending on the case.
Reservation & Women’s Participation:
To ensure social equity in the selection of beneficiaries, the scheme includes the following reservation criteria:
