Where Did the Prices Fall the Most?
This week, most mandis in Uttar Pradesh saw a downward trend in pigeon pea prices. The steepest decline occurred in Nanpara, where prices dropped by ₹1,200 per quintal. Etawah and Bharthana also recorded significant falls of ₹700 each.
Even in major markets like Lucknow, the price fell from ₹11,050 to ₹10,500, resulting in a loss of ₹550 per quintal for sellers. Mandis like Amroha and Sultanpur saw moderate dips of ₹200 to ₹300, while Meerut, Firozabad, and Bahraich showed only minor fluctuations.
Overall, this week has been disadvantageous for farmers, and the outlook for next week will largely depend on Kharif sowing activities and monsoon progress.
