Crop Name: Potato

Disease Name : Powdery Scab

  • Powdery scab affects the tubers and roots of potato plants.
  • The disease causes blister-like lesions on the tuber surface, which later burst open and release a powdery mass of brown spores.

  • Initially, small raised blisters or pimples appear on the tuber surface.
  • In severe cases, secondary bacterial or fungal rots may occur.
  • The disease stunts plant growth and weakens the plant.

  • Choose well-drained soils and avoid water stagnation in the field.
  • Use certified, disease-free seed tubers.
