Crop Name: Maize

Disease Name : Leaf Blight

  • Leaf blight is a disease that occurs in a highly susceptible condition.
  • It may be caused by excessive heat or high moisture.
  • This disease can reduce crop yield by 10 to 50 percent.
  • Moist, circular spots appear on the leaves.
  • When the disease becomes uncontrolled on the crop, lesions of 5 to 15 cm can be seen.
  • The lesions are circular and light brown in color.
  • In severe cases, the entire leaf appears scorched.
  • Immediately remove infected plants from the crop.
  • Sow the crop on time and avoid late sowing.
  • Destroy crop residues in the field, as the fungus survives on them.
  • Select disease-resistant varieties.
